Who We Are
The people behind 76 Trombones are parents of past and current Band students. We have seen the results of music education in our own sons and daughters, and want to see those advantages passed on to other students as well. We recognize the economic challenges our school systems face and believe in the necessity of privately funding Arts Education.
Frank Roberts- Founder, Executive Director:
Frank is the proud father of a band student who has gone on to college (almost entirely on music scholarships!) to study Music Education. While his son Graeme was attending Chapel Hill High School, Frank served 3 years as the President of the Band Boosters organization. Frank worked hard to create a ‘band family’ atmosphere, and find new and interesting ways to raise money for the band. Now that Graeme has graduated, Frank has turned this energy to the larger mission of funding 76 Trombones in the hopes of making music available to everyone. He plays a mean bass, thinks he can play some guitar(he can’t), and his favorite instrument right now is the Strumstick, inspired by Jon Anderson of Yes.
